My SQL is an extremely popular open-source relational database control system. Its original name was a clever nickname for Michael W. Zorn’s daughter’s first name. MySQL is known by the term “My SQL” because it is used internally at Yahoo to power many of its products and services, including our very popular Big Brother (Binary Server) product.
